Choose from one of two classic frighteners – spooky gay slasher flick Hellbent and cult favourite Vampyros Lesbos.

HELLBENT
Dir. Paul Etheredge / 85mins / USA /2004
10.30pm QFT 2 £5.50

It is Halloween night, and the famed West Hollywood
Halloween Carnival is in full swing. Despite the news of a grisly double beheading in the area, four gay friends prepare for a wild night at the raucous party.
But somewhere in the night there lurks a relentless, devilish killer wielding a sickle and stalking their every move! Hellbent will grab you by the throat and leave you on the edge of your seat.

A cult masterpiece, Vampyros Lesbos is a tripped-out erotic cocktail of nudity, psychedelic softcore lesbianism, vampires and outrageous sets – all accompanied by a world famous retro soundtrack.
Countess Nadin Carody is a dark and beautiful vampire with an insatiable thirst for female blood, lures young women to her isolated island to love… and then kill in ecstasy.
Linda Westing is a young American lawyer, working in Istanbul. During the night, she has passionate dreams in which a sexy brunett makes love to her. A minor case forces her to travel to one of the small islands off the Turkish coast, where her nightmares come upon her…

Mon. 16th Nov.
Studio Cinema, Donegall St.
7.30pm Free Admission
In partnership with Changing Attitude Ireland

For The Bible Tells Me So is a powerful multi award-winning film by director Daniel Karslake. Sundance Jury Prize nominated and acclaimed as “the best gay documentary since The Celluloid Closet”, the film asks “Is the chasm separating gays and lesbians and Christianity too wide to cross?” and “Is the Bible an excuse to hate?”

Through the experiences of five very Christian, very American families, including those of U.S. politician Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, For the Bible Tells Me So explores how people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child and challenges the attitudes of Christian churches.

This special screening is presented in partnership with Changing Attitude Ireland and will be introduced by Church of Ireland Canon, Charles Kenny. Charles will be joined after the screening by Pádraig Ó Tuama, to comment on the film and discuss the issues it addresses with the audience.

Changing Attitude Ireland is a Christian pro-gay network of persons working for the full affirmation of LGBT persons within the Churches.

Pádraig Ó Tuama is a freelance community relations facilitator and poet, with a particular interest in facilitating dialogue about the theological approach to difference.

Dir. Wendy Jo Carlton / 2009 / USA / 90mins

Book HERE

Adapted from an award-winning play by Claudia Allen, this deeply affecting love story co-stars Sharon Gless (Hannah) of Cagney and Lacey fame.
Out and proud Hannah and reserved Rachel have shared many decades of love, but now Hannah is prevented from visiting Rachel, who lies in a coma in a nursing home. When a kindly nurse intervenes, Hannah begins to visit her lover secretly and a series of flashbacks reveal their years of enduring partnership, both passionate and tumultuous.
Hannah Free raises many same-sex relationship rights issues, but at its heart is a powerful story of simple humanity and devoted love.
And as an extra treat, we’ll be screening a short selection of classic moments from the iconic 80’s police drama Cagney and Lacey before the film!

Paul and Eddie have just begun previews for the new Off-Broadway musical “Adam and Steve: Just the Way God Made ‘Em.” Their lives strangely mirror the characters they are playing. Paul is looking for the perfect man and Eddie is dealing with how his sexuality and faith can mix. After yet another disastrous dating experience, Paul decides he’s done with dating and just wants to be a slut like the sexy chorus boys that share his dressing room. In the meantime, Eddie has to tell his parents that he’s gay and is starring in a show that calls the bible the “Breeder’s Informational Book of Living Examples”…
Musical numbers, tap dancing angels, a retelling of Genesis, tele-evangelists…The Big Gay Musical is a smart, funny and thoroughly entertaining film about realising that life gets better once you accept who you really are.

Dir. Nacho G. Velilla / 2008 / Spain / 111min

Book HERE
Maxi thinks his life is perfect. He is a famous cook who owns a top restaurant in Chueca, the gay district of Madrid, with his biggest goal being to get the restaurant rated by the Michelin guide. He is living the gay lifestyle without problems and hangups, with his employees as his closest confidants, Alex and Ramiro. But when his son and daughter (who were born from an unsuccessful marriage) appear and a new neighbor, Horacio (Benjamín Vicuña) moves in (an attractive famous Argentinian ex-soccer player), they completely turn his life upside down and make him question his values….

A briliant non-stop comedy in the style of Pedro Almodovar (and co-starring Almodovar regular Lola Dueñas), Chef’s Special is one of those rare films where just when you think you can’t laugh anymore, things go one step further.
An absolute gem, not to be missed!

Dir. Nancy Kissam / 2009 / USA / 88 mins
Part Little Miss Sunshine road movie, part John Waters camp revenge comedy, Drool is a darkly comic tale of accidental murder and unexpected lesbian love.

Anora Fleece has got it rotten. Her husband, Cheb, is a bastard. Her kids treat her bad. And she lives in the middle of nowhere feeling like a nobody. That is until a new neighbour, Imogene Cochran, moves in.
Imogene sells Kathy K. Kosmetics, “make-up for the cocoa skinned woman”, in a town where racism is standard. But that doesn’t stop Imogene and Anora from becoming friends. It also doesn’t stop them from becoming more than friends. And when Anora’s husband finds them, all hell breaks loose, leading to murder and a very un-nuclear family road trip…

Starring David Lynch favourite, Laura Harring (Mulholland Drive ), Drool is a brilliantly subversive, often hilarious film that asks the question “How far are you willing to go to enjoy the love you deserve?”

Book HERE

Both original and incredibly romantic, Redwoods tells the story of an already-partnered man whose love is tested when a mysterious drifter passes through his small Northern California town. Everett (Brendan Bradley) and Miles (Tad Coughenour) are in a comfortably platonic relationship, which is held together by raising their son.
While his family travels out of town, introverted Everett finally has time to himself, that is until Chase (Matthew Montgomery), a striking writer, pulls up in front of his house. Shot amidst ancient Redwoods, David Lewis’ (Rock Haven) film is a stunning ode to the power of love.

The makers of The Brandon Teena Story return with an empowering and intimate film centred around a 42-year passionate romance between two women – Edie and Thea. Beginning pre-Stonewall, Edie and Thea’s relationship gives us an inspiring glimpse into lesbian life, love, romance, sex, politics and activism since the 1960s.
Unable to get married in their home country, Edie and Thea, the latter recently diagnosed with a terminal illness, leave for Canada to legalise their vows with the country’s first openly gay judge. As they face the unknown, Edie and Thea: A Very Long Engagement has something to enlighten, impress and uplift us all.
A truly inspiring documentary not to be missed.

The lesbian answer to Brokeback Mountain, this exquisitely crafted short takes place in a diner in deepest, mid-west America, where the local ladies not only cater for their husbands, but also Loretta – the cowgirl they all look up to. Loretta has eyes for only one though, the quiet waitress in the corner.
